Mennonite Village is a well-respected not-for-profit Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) with a 70+ year history. We are currently hiring for a Building Maintenance 1 to perform a variety of duties related to building maintenance, including their structure, systems and equipment. Shift Monday-Friday 8:00AM-4:30PM April 1-September 30th.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Performs daily duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Assists other Building Maintenance personnel with work orders and projects.
  • Obtains proper tools and supplies needed to perform tasks.
  • Cleans maintenance shop as needed.
  • Organizes supplies in proper storage areas upon delivery.
  • Checks for work orders assigned to him/her. Assures completion of work order in timely manner.
  • Assures complete customer satisfaction by providing quality maintenance services to all village residents.
  • Engages in regular inspection of her/his own work to ensure safely and quality.
  • Attends in-service educational programs as requested.
  • Request information and/or assistance when needed.
  • Is courteous and respectful to residents and staff.
  • Participates in on-call pager duty.
  • Attends in-service educational programs as requested.
  • Cleans and repair equipment as needed before returning it to the proper place.
  • Follows established safety rules and principles.
  • Operates vehicles in accordance with Federal, State, and local regulations.
  • Keeps work area clean and neat.
  • Assures customer satisfaction by providing quality maintenance services.
  • Maintains buildings in good repair and free of hazards
  • Regular attendance and punctuality is an essential function of the job.
  • Abide by the standards and procedures of the Mennonite Village Compliance and Privacy Program and Values and Expectations Statement.
  • Abides by the HIPAA policies and reports to a supervisor, breaches (or violations) of our HIPAA policies.
  • Immediately reports identified hazards or hazardous conditions to a supervisor.
  • Immediately reports adverse events and near misses to a supervisor.
  • Attends mandatory training on HIPPA and compliance annually.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Supportive of the Mennonite Home philosophy.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing and reading English.
  • One year of related work experience preferred.
  • Ability to make decisions, prioritize work load, and respond appropriately to change.
  • Ability to work with a variety of age groups, but especially the elderly.
  • Ability to see, hear, feel, and smell within normal limits.
  • A good working knowledge of use and care of carpentry, plumbing, and electrical tools.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to perform moderately heavy lifting (100lbs.), prolonged standing or walking, working from ladders, bending, stooping, twisting, crawling, and reaching.
