Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:Masters degree or equivalent in Special Education or Educational Administration. NH Certification in at least one area of special education Five years of classroom experience required Special Education Administrative Experience required Knowledge of Special Education laws Federal and State Knowledge of wellness/mental health programs Understanding of state and federal regulations as it pertains to all student servicesSpecific Core Function: Reports to and advises the Superintendent and is accountable for end results. Responsible for the leadership and supervision of the Districts Special Education Program and staff and the Districts Student Services. Direct responsibility and oversight for every aspect of the Special Education Program.Responsibilities of the Position: * Develop and maintain complete and cumulative individual records of all children receiving special services or enrolled in special classes.

  • Monitor staff caseloads and student progress * Consult with staff, parents, and outside agencies regarding special education program offerings. * Respond to parents concerning the evaluation and placement of their children. * Supervise and coordinate programs dealing with both corrective and preventative aspects of communication disorders of voice, language and articulation. * Supervise and coordinate special instructional services for students who are blind or visually impaired.
  • Supervise and evaluate all Special Education Coordinators. * Schedule and assign psychologists, interns and speech therapists. * Arrange with neighboring school districts for the education of those students who cannot be adequately served in the local district. * Oversee coordination of services to private schools within the district.
  • Assist in the recruitment, selection and recommendation for hiring of special education personnel. * Plan assign and direct work; appraise performance; reward and discipline employees, address complaints and resolve problems. * Keep current with literature, new research findings, and improved techniques * Attend appropriate professional meetings and conferences. * Remain informed of all legal requirements governing special education, as well as advocate for the needs of students served in special education at the state and national levels.
  • Prepare applications, reports and documents for submission to local, state and federal agencies. * Coordinate programs and personnel in areas of primary responsibility. * Establish and improve procedures to process and place eligible pupils in special education classes, from admission to dismissal. * Design and draft relevant policy for presentation and approval for the BOSC.
  • Coordinate staff and administrator training in areas of primary responsibility to ensure the highest possible levels of professional growth and development. * Develop budget recommendations and provide oversight of expenditure control of budgets for areas of primary responsibility. * Development and support of Social Emotional Learning Programs. Including training, grants, professional development and accountability.
  • 504 Coordinator for the District. * Title IX (Student) District lead, will train others for the responsibilities. * Direct oversight of Medicaid to Schools, Truancy Officer, Court Liaison, and Foster Care. * Mental Health Coordination for the District including grants, wellness and planning.
  • Program evaluation and improvement. * Inclusion Specialist * Develop strategy for the implementation of the co-teaching model. * Liaison for Special Education Services in Private Schools and Charter Schools. * Director of MTSS Implementation plan.
  • Oversight of school psychologists, social workers, student assistance program counselors and guidance counselors. * Oversight of contracts for outside counseling services (e.g., Amoskeag Health). * Oversight of student physical, mental health, and school nurses. * Suicide Prevention LiaisonSupervisory Responsibilities Required Special Qualifications: * Authority to recommend the hiring, discipline, and termination of staff under his/her supervision within the guidelines set by statute and District/Federal policy.Assignments and Committees: * Committees as assigned by the SuperintendentEssential Physical Abilities: * Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits the employee to communicate effectively.
