Introduction
Dedrone is seeking to hire a General Counsel (GC) (m/f/x) to manage its global legal and regulatory matters. The GC is a key member of the leadership team, with primary responsibilities for directing legal and regulatory affairs and providing advice on strategic issues to the CEO, members of leadership and the Board of Directors. The GC reports to the CEO. The role is based in the Washington D.C. area.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary legal advisor to the CEO, leadership team and Board of Director's
- Responsible for the intake, assessment, implementation and monitoring of any new and existing legal obligations relevant to Dedrone's product portfolio as well as providing assessments to possible impacts upon the business
- Oversee all domestic and international legal matters of the Company as a whole, including acting as the Company's legal representative
- Manage all Federal, state and local government affairs, including identifying, analyzing and conducting complex legal research on policy issues and advocating the Company's positions
- Build and maintain relationships with U.S. Federal agencies (FAA, FCC, FBI and the like) to monitor all relevant rulemaking proceedings, as needed
- Manage external legal vendors, including corporate counsel, intellectual property, export compliance, legal industry subject matter experts and litigation
- Manage global commercial contract process (Federal, state and local government and enterprise)
- Manage all legal records and proceedings for the Company
- Undertake special projects and support existing programs, as needed
- Facilitate the filings of licensing and compliance forms and other statutory requirements, as needed
Qualifications
- J.D. degree and active membership in at least one U.S. State bar
- 12+ years of practicing attorney experience, preferable with some years with a U.S. government agency, such as the FAA, FCC, DoJ or DHS
- Background of providing legal guidance across a wide variety of legal issues to business stakeholders
- In-house experience at a security, wireless infrastructure, telecommunications, SAAS or subscription company desired
- Prior experience influencing, leading change and accomplishing goals through collaborative team effort
