Title: Human Resources Assistant

Department: Human Resources/Administration

Reports To: Human Resources Manager

FLSA: Non-Exempt (Hourly)


General Purpose of Job/Summary:

The HR Assistant will perform administrative tasks and services to support effective and efficient operations of the organization's human resource and administration departments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records, and documentation.
  • Answers frequently asked questions from applicants and employees relative to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc.; refers more complex questions to HR management.
  • Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and records.
  • Performs periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately.
  • Help organize training programs and records
  • Provides clerical support to the HR department.
  • Assists with new hire orientation and onboarding
  • Assists with planning and execution of special events such as benefits enrollment, organization-wide meetings, employee recognition events, and celebrations.
  • Assists with the preparation of forms and policies
Education/Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required / Associate degree or higher preferred
  • Prior related office experience preferred
Technical Skills:
  • Advanced computer skills: Microsoft Office Suite required
  • Strong clerical skills: typing, filing, and record keeping
Other Skills/Requirements:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn human resource information system (HRIS) and similar computer applications.
  • Friendly, helpful team player with a positive, customer-service attitude
  • Ability to adapt to multiple and rapidly changing priorities and deadlines
  • Work well under pressure and maintain a sense of urgency
  • Good collaboration and problem-solving skills
  • The ability to work independently and productively with little or no supervision
  • Dependable and reliable with an excellent attendance track record
  • Keep manager and coworkers informed of the status of issues and projects
