TCL Marketing is a remote-based, full-service advertising agency looking for a Proofreader to join, support, and help develop our growing operations team. Working hours are Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. EST.
The ideal candidate will thrive in a busy work environment with a high-volume workload. This person must be a team player but should also be comfortable working independently to meet hard deadlines. We are looking for someone with proofreading experience who can quickly learn our internal processes, help to improve our procedures and meet the needs of our clients. Because we all work remotely, high attention to detail and exceptional written and verbal communication skills are absolutely necessary. Proofreader Tasks:
- Review documents for grammar, spelling and style mistakes
- Review documents for errors in imagery and art design
- Fact-check information when necessary
- Compare documents and websites to original templates for accuracy
- Follow AP style guidelines for writing and editing
- Follow brand guidelines for clients when applicable
- Work closely with the art department on the development of new projects and processes
- Other duties as needed
Skills/Requirements:
- High school diploma and at least 2 years of relevant work experience or a Bachelor's Degree in English, Communications, or related field
- Previous ad agency/marketing firm experience a plus
- Sound knowledge of English grammar and punctuation with an emphasis on AP style
- Excellent copyediting and proofreading skills
- Meticulous attention to detail, commitment to producing quality products, deadline conscious
- Ability to concentrate for long periods of time
- Exemplary problem-solving skills
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Strong ability to prioritize tasks while thinking ahead and planning accordingly for upcoming tasks
- Ability to work under direction as well as independently
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under hard deadlines
- Ability to take initiative
- Strong communication skills - written and verbal
- Ability to manage relations with internal and external resources
- Positive and respectful attitude towards team members, clients and vendors
